Hardware issue? X52
« on: November 09, 2013, 07:39:20 AM »
Within the last few days, I have noticed that my flaps will randomly deploy during flight.

I run an X52, and a month or two ago, I finally downloaded the X5 programming software, which enabled some of the features of the X52, but ruined the mapping I had on it. When I went into AH to remap my controller, some of the buttons would not allow to be mapped, so I disabled the software, which returned my original mapping.

In the last few days, I made no new changes, and the flaps would just randomly deploy. Not sure if maybe an issue with the hardware, or if there were other options in game that I may have missed that would make them deploy for any reason.

Are you sure you cleared the X52 programming? It sounds like your getting a "button" push and once you get slow enough for the flap to deploy it does.

First thing would be a quick look in both the windows game controller, and the game settings to see if I can spot any button "on".

Next I'd rename the <your stick>.jsm file in the settings folder in the game folder to <your stick>original.jsm and restart the game off line and run with the default settings for a bit to see if it still happens. If it does, then it is the joystick program you updated. If it doesn't then it's a problem with your settings in the game. Opening the jsm file with notepad you can see all the setting you have saved to which switches. Find all the ones with "flaps_down". There should only be one unless you have either on purpose, or accidentally mapped it to two places. Clear the one you don't want, or all of them. Rename the file to <your stick>.jsm and go back into the game and remap the flaps button to the one you want.

Good luck!
