Is this a vertical scissor?
« on: November 19, 2013, 10:05:15 AM »
Situation....

In a fight with a bandit.  I am in a nose down spiral to the right with him but can't pull lead.  As we descend and it is apparent a lead pursuit isn't possible, I nose down and roll right (usually 90 degrees) so he is off to left side then I pull my nose up so it is in front of his projected flight path.

I sometimes do this on a merge.   Rather than turning in the horizontal I split S and pull up to where I think he will cross.

It works beautifully if I have alt.  I usually miss as he flies right through my gunsight.   What kind of maneuver is this, other than frustrating?  Lol

I find yo yo's both high and low are the most widely used and effective ways to energy fight. Getting with a trainer and learning this basic acm can be very helpful.

Shaw's book is available as a free download but I don't have a link handy. You can also find USN and USAF ACM  manuals free online and  I think they are easier to get the basics from. Some people have trouble with diagrams and do better with a trainer demonstrating and explaining concepts and maneuvers.

regarding any free pdf files of Mouse's ( Robert Shaw's ) book, I had talked withhim awhile back and helped him with several places that was hosting his book in pdf form on some websites, etc.. illegally ....    btw  Mouse  is/was  Shaw's  gameid  and callsign as well iirc.......

so good luck on finding a copy.....

I recommend buying the book, seriously

as for inpursuit, I never really cared much for it......
