Mostly true if you take the easy route.  Although, a mean person can certainly become a nice person.  I'm sure there are people in this community that will tell you they were once really bad/mean and now they appear (and I believe are) very nice.  In one case, family and kids changed them.  I can think of some right now, but won't mention names.  They know who they are.  :)
