So what's the guy thinking?
« on: May 08, 2014, 10:42:01 PM »
First let me say I've been having some serious calibration issues with my rudders. But being undaunted I head to vbase 41 (I think).

See a higher c205 dive on a friendly and go after him he turns fast and I ping him in a near head on. Then my C.O. texts me. So in the middle of the loop I text back. About that time I hear a roar, sounds like a p51 and guns blazing. He must have been doing over 500 mph, really really fast. Somehow he misses my hanging plane.

Now I believe he is thinking two things, "How the #@)(#@* did I miss and he didn't see me so I'll try again." Then again it may have been something like, I want that shot back, I deserve that kill, he's mine darnit.
Well now I see him and unlike so many p51 pilots he turns a shorter distance away than say 5k out. He comes screaming back. I can hardly get my f4 to turn but I manage to duck under and he barely misses again. He turns at a shorter distance maybe 3k, (I deserve that kill he's thinking so I think). He still has mucho E over me. Once again I manage to duck under and once again he misses but I'm sure by a hair. His traces are off buy I hear his guns.

We started off about 12k for me and who knows about him, maybe better than 20k. Now we're nearing the canyon walls. Another pass by the 51 and this time he goes straight up and I try to extend and climb. Didn't want to get caught against those walls and I'm a just a wee bit over the ridge. Now his angle is nearly straight down. Amazingly I manage to make him come down even straighter than he probably intended. He misses again, I don't know how. However this time he has to avoid that canyon walls and angles under me. I roll over and get a ping on him. I may have gotten his elevator. Now I'm on his six but he still has a tad bit of E over me. Yet he turns to avoid a full silhouette. Like I said I'm having calibration issues. I turn too. He dives away and then finds himself trying to climb out of the canyon, Smack, he hits the wall. I'm pretty sure I know what he's thinking then. :)

Sad to say about that time all calibration is lost and I flip flop to my death. You all know what I'm thinking!  :furious

I think something went wrong with my pedals as well, for whatever reason I only used them 4 months, packed them up and put them in the closet ever since, now for whatever reason they seem to "jump" every now and then. Not sure what the issue is, I've had the same setup since I quit flying few years ago, nothing changed except my sticks were packaged up in the closet.

Just attempted to get everything calibrated in offline mode, maybe somethings changed that I don't know about?

Which peds are you guys using?

My 1st set were Saitek and after 6 months I began to have calibration issues. Next, they began to lock up on me with one ped stuck in full fwd position...not good in a dogfite  :cry I sent them to Saitek for repair and found the same problems down the road.

Moral of story, I moved on toe CH peds some years ago and have never had an issue.

Using CH Pro Pedals, with Thrustmaster Warthog, works well in my opinion except the CH pedals seem to not have any durability..

How new are they? I've heard whispers that CH quality has waned a bit in the last year or so. No solid evidence to speak of.

I kick mine around pretty hard.

Well I used mine for about 3 months when I bought my new rig, this was over a year ago - I packaged them up and put them in a closet where they've been sitting for over a year.
I don't exactly kick mine hard, this is the second set I've had, first set I had for about 4 years without any issues until it just stopped working.

One thing I can say, the Thrustmaster warthog is built on durability - I used to use a Logitech stick that I would have to replace every 2-3 months - I've used my thrustmaster for 3 months and it still feels firm as ever.

CH PRO Peds, 6 years old and going strong, no issues.  I do clean them about once a month.

With a hand vac.   I make sure that the peddles that you push and the slides that are attached to them are dirt free.   Can't hurt, they look to be sealed, but you never know.

My CH Throttle needed opening up and assembling, never said anything on their website.

If they sold it for 50% less and you had to assemble it youself it would be a top seller :old:
