Non-typical bull elk picture

I share the road with elk on Trans Canada hwy 1/16; here are lots, horde, they are dangerous for us driving trucks in winter time , always on the icy roads licking deicing salt;  they have different color  winter /summer; more kind of white camo in winter ;

Heres my M-70 .375 H&H. I shoot 300 grn A-frames thru it and while some might find it a bit heavy its really a sweetheart to shoot.

How big is that Eland, say compared to an elk?

The Eland in that picture is in the area of 2,000 lbs, maybe over. And they can get to about 2,200 lbs I think a Bull Elk can tip about 700 lbs. A Moose about 1,400 lbs. Thats why they say "Moose hunting is fun until you get one". Ive only hunted moose in Newfoundland which is a big Island that only has one road around the exterior with the interior being all wilderness where no gas vehicles are allowed except ATVs on approved paved trails. Lotsa luck getting a Moose near an "approved paved trail".

If I had to hump quartered moose 3 or 4 times over 5 miles of Bogs again at my age I'd probably have a "grabber" and end up spending eternity as Bear crap.

Ghi: great photos. Was elevation was the mtn goat at in the third pic? The first two look above tree line.

The only place I've seen one was way up above tree line, I was hiking two 14'ers that day and he was ~13,500.

The photos I took here, Alberta, BC along Yellowhead hwy /Trans-Canada Highway 16 and hwy 93,Icefields parkway ; they have mtn goat statue also at the entrance in Mt.Robson Park; maybe 3000-4000ft elevation; the top of Mt.Robson in photo is 12,900ft; the wildlife is hanging along the roads here, this area is wild virgin, love it, not infested by humans dweebs.I wouldn't climb that elevation even in game, I'm lazy trucker
