Warthog questions
« on: August 08, 2014, 09:13:42 PM »
Howdy all, got fed up with my CH joystick and ordered a wart hog stick and throttle  :rock got a question or two.

1. do you guys use the software or just set it up in AH?

2. what is the size of the base plate on the throttle and stick?

Thanks in advance for any help  :salute

You don't need the software except to adjust the lighting. Install it for the drivers but you can assign everything in AH.

Keep in mind that the most critical part is plastic. Be gentle. The spring is heavier than CH but you'll get used to it.

The software is very powerful.  Easy to use graphic interface and testing.  You can do things like have a switch that flips one way has your Vox on squad then flip the other way and have the vox on a different channel.  Have switched for different salvos.  The point is you can string test buffer stuff.

You can even have a button that every time you push the switch it goes through a sequence you set.  You have three modes then each mode or switch set can have two layers.

You can set delays.  You can have things like Damage show for a few seconds then turn back off.

The software works on the T16000 and the cougar panels as well.

it's even a bit too good, you can do things I consider cheating (or gaming the game).
I experimented with it a bit, and I do not want advantages others do not have.
My ammo last for 6 Lancasters, or one Yak3.

SimHQ is your friend when asking about hardware, O' Lord of Wezels.  Observe!

 :aok

FYI - I own a Warthog and the numbers listed seem right to me.  I can confirm later when I get home if you wish.

In my experience, nothing is ever what it seems to be, but everything is exactly what it is.

Another one to consider is the Russian Defender Cobra M5: http://flightsimcontrols.com/store/available/cobra-m5/. By the specs it looks sturdier than the T16000m for approximately the same price (plus shipping, don't know how much that would be to the US). It's also highly upgradeable in case you'd need extra buttons, wheels, knobs, a better rudder, better mechanism - some options being sold out! But I believe it would be a good choice with the extra controller panel (€ 58) and mechanism kit (the price of which hasn't been told). Could the latter possibly be similar to their Black Mamba: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,364482.msg4856422.html#msg4856422???

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.
