Pyro, the empty weight of the Tu-2S.
« on: January 31, 2014, 04:47:58 AM »
In AH, the Tu-2S weighs 7142kg without fuel, bombs or ammo but with of course the four man crew on board. The lowest empty weight that I've found in the literature given for the Tu-2S is that of the "Tu-2S-test mule", S/N 100716 which had an empty weight of 7474kg*.

I haven't found a complete loading table for the Tu-2S but of all the ones I've seen for WWII combat aircraft, they've never counted the crew into the empty weight. Without knowing whether the lubricants and defensive weapons are included to the empty weight or not, the empty weight seems to be at least ~732kg (1613lbs) too low considering that a crew member would weigh ~100kg per man with their equipment.

that is quite a lot even for a bomber. Interesting.
