Well I broke down, for $13 I bought a wifi router, this should work for my purposes. Get this working and I can turn off the wifi in the cable modem, then tell TWC to stop wifi service. Bossturds did not even tell me about the service charge till after bill arrived.

The wifi in the dsl modem was setup to go to rj11, wan. I could not get it to traverse the lan port. What I bought should port right in with rj45. Its just for my phone.

It is not for the novice though.  If you are well versed in networking/routing then this is the router for you.  If I did not have my own router design, this is the one I would get.

Wow, that's a nice piece of hardware.
I paid $13 for what I chose, so you can imagine, I have no intention of running a pc thru it, just my smartphone and a couple of baby cams.
Firm believer in wired connects where feasible. Now my retirement RV will most likely require such a piece of hardware...................

Doing my damdest to decrease my mthly life expense, this should deal with TWC's $5 mthly for wifi. gonna retire sooner than later. Right now my tele/broadband communications expenses are way to high.
