Laptop Repairs, recommendations

Gentlemen/Ladies:

I was recently given for my birthday a 22" Acer Laptop, sofar I like it, but as I haven't
seen too many people using  the 22 incher, I was wondering if u people would be kind enough to provide a GOOD REPAIR Service for laptops!

I like to be prepared for any eventuality & would like to be prepared should anything go
wrong with the laptop.  Your courtesies & help would be greatly appreciated. 

I reside a few miles from San Francisco, Calif., thereby I'd be interested in Repair Shops
from San Francisco to Millbrae, Calif.  Pls help me out people, TY.

Acer brand used to be extremely unreliable. I hope you won't have bad luck with yours.

Acers were notorious for unexplained networking anomalies etc.

Knowing a good repair shop is a valuable thing to know, but making precautions to avoid needing one is IMO even more important.

Start by making the factory default image, something that keeps nagging until you either create it or unchecked "show at every boot". It will be useful in case of a hard disk failure after the warranty is over.

Next you'd want to get rid of unnecessary programs, anything named "acer something" is beyond a plain vanilla Windows. www.blackviper.com is a good source for finding out what you can disable for best performance.

Last but not least of importance is to make sure you'd get enough cooling for your laptop. Always use it on a solid flat surface, leave plenty of clean space around it and keep your desk dust-free. Getting more space under the laptop will help a lot, adhesive bumpons like below are surprisingly effective for the price and they'd follow along to a lan party. In really hot conditions a special underlay equipped with fans might be even better, for which a powered USB hub will prevent power loss of your gaming gear.

And of course keeping all the fans and other cooling gear clean is crucial for longevity.

I have personally never been fond of Acer laptops, they seem to not have any horsepower under the hood

If it's of any value, but some time ago I read that Acer as a brand will leave the low end market to other brands it owns, such as Packard Bell. Anyway, a 22" laptop most probably doesn't fall into the low end category. Actually you're making me curious, a quick search didn't show any 22 inchers, not even on the Acer website. Could you give some specs and maybe even write a review from an AH'ers perspective?
