Without all the hype and attention
« on: September 22, 2015, 01:41:47 PM »
This story just made me feel good about America.  We see all of the worst cases of bad behavior imprinted on our brains 24 hours through constant media hype (like something out of 'Clockwork Orange').  Then I saw this picture that first rendered to my brain, in the image of an officer handcuffing a "perp".

Although, a silent majority, I believe that most Americans live their lives and feel this way in their hearts.  The bad actors, and horrible blog comments, are only representative of a fraction of our great nation.

As a nation, until we are able to put our divides aside, we will be the target of that which is determined to exploit weakness.

The crazy thing is...this is a daily occurrence.. We just don't get to see it often...and for all it's pitfalls, social media is the only place showing this type of thing...The media only latches on when it becomes news worthy for profit....

Dog bites man is not news.
People cannot help themselves, they will slow down to look at accidents.
Truth doesn't fit into sound bites and most people don't have the attention span to be interested in the facts.
The news is a daily orchestrated soap opera brought to you by whoever owns the means or buys the time.

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."

". . . whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government; that, whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them right."

Ignorance and sound self-government could not exist together: the one destroyed the other. A despotic government could restrain its citizens and deprive the people of their liberties only while they were ignorant.

Ignorance is blisss....... :O

This is like the old joke that voters are harsher to their beer brewer if he has an outage, than their politicians after raising their taxes. Death and taxes are certain but, fun and sex is only now.
