HTC Servers up or down?
« on: July 18, 2016, 11:44:47 AM »
Tried to introduce a friend to Aces High II and it appears to hang during sign on.  I never receive the opening sign-on screen.  Any one else having issues?  Not seeing any messages , nothing.

I just logged on to the MA no problems.

Did you try a pingplot?  There are severe thunderstorms heading your way.

So, was it thunderstorms, or all those Pokémon Go players clogging up the net?

OK, I"ve got it back.  I down loaded by Norton Security again.    or did you do something on your side.  Took me a few to remember my sign on and password for AH.

I did a compare between two system backups and had a very surprising find.   My Norton Security Suite was corrupted.  This whole thing started right after a period of sever weather rolled through,  we had lots of downed trees and power on and off.   As the storms approached I thought I did a controlled shut down, however, after a few very close lighting strikes I realized that perhaps I had waited too long.

Well, if you are running Norton, then all bets are off.  Norton and McAfee both are notorious for causing problems with the game.  It may not cause a problem today, but it will eventually cause a problem.

The corruption you found happens as a matter of course for Norton.  Norton is the problem.

One of the worst things about Norton and McAfee is you cannot disable them once they are installed.  All you can do is turn off the messages.  This is due to how they replace system files with their own.  Horrible programs.

I can support Skuzzy on this!

A few years ago I had a nasty mailer bot on my computer,it was hiding in Norton. It quarantined itself in a folder in the quarantined box inside Norton so the AV all but ignored it.

Seems the hackers exploit Norton, because they can and use it to hid all sorts of nasties!!

Ditto about Norton.  A huge drain on my system and constant bugs/problems years ago.  Never again.
