‘Something’s pulling them here’: Thousands of seals surround Arctic drilling rig

 Russians working onboard of arctic oil rig never seen something like this ; the seals are sensing something unusual in their habitat , maybe quick rise in water temperature  ice melting , are hanging around floating objects ; overpopulation lack or predators and clubbing ?! specie threatened by extinction begging humans for help?  just speculating, i thought was interesting to share

Animals go where the food and F*&%ing are good.  The rig may be hosting a small ecosystem that has helped grow a food source (like an artificial reef can become an oasis in an ocean desert area) or chemicals released from the rig (even poop released in the water) may be attracting the food source.

Or the rig is home to a seal bordello...  I'd like to think the food source is a more credible possibility though.

also, the ice cover.  higher than normal ice cover could be astounding young russians and more importantly the media.  the melt line could be different and therefore the food source different.  Also, any other factor affecting shelter and food could be at play.  looks to me they are sunning themselves, probably by a food source.

Reminds me of. " life's a b1t34"  I see our latest forecast for the last week of June includes hypothermia inducing temperatures in the 40s.   Brrrr, thank good for shelter and warm clothes!

Steam sever is almost up and running (situated in colder cimate for temp control for huge numbers of newbs expected)and the seals are gathering..this is just a start
