Oddsmakers, what are the odds?
« on: October 14, 2017, 10:47:01 AM »
Just looking over the models that still need upgrading to AH3 standards and wondering about the next ship(s) to be upgraded.  I think the odds favor the A-20G/Boston III because its the last aircraft with a variant, but then again the Tempest could borrow a lot from the Typhoon.  Just for fun, if I were a Vegas bookmaker, this is the way I'd set the odds on an early November update:

  Aircraft    Variant          Release        Odds
  Bf 110C     Bf 110G          Jan-17              -
  SBD                                May-17             -
  F4F-4        FM-2              Aug-17              -
  D3A                               Aug-17             -
  B5N                               Sep-17             -
  Ar 234                                ?             5/1
  Me 163                               ?              7/1
  Ju 88                                 ?              3/2
  A-20G       Boston III            ?              1/2
  Ki.67                                 ?              2/1
  Tempest                             ?              1/1

If I understand oddsmaking correctly, a $2 bet at 1/1 odds pays $4  - you win $2, plus get your original $2 bet back?

Well, seeing how Greebo just did a new skin for the Boston III, I'd say the odds of a shape upgrade to the A-20G/Boston III just went to about 20/1.

If Waffle is not doing the 3D work from scratch, here are some prices for commercial 3D models. Still maybe he does them all in-house to not have to make intellectual property rights deals for use in the game. Most of these have a caveat disclaimer in the product information about that. Still, Waffle probably looked at the same Lancaster out there for 119-199$ and went "piffle" and banged out his own 3D model just as good. Because our Lancaster looks exactly like what I found. And the new Hurricane, If Hitech had Waffle producing them in house, I hope HTC entered the secondary market place selling those 3D models. They are direct competition to the best I've found. And so are the 110 and 202\205 and Ki61. Even if the 202\205 have a gunsight in them that they never used..it was introduced with the G.55... :O

Ar 234 - $129
Me 163 -$79
Ju 88 - $79
A20G - $79
Boston - $79
Ki 67 - cannot find any professional 3D models.
Tempest V - $65 - $79

This is like the old joke that voters are harsher to their beer brewer if he has an outage, than their politicians after raising their taxes. Death and taxes are certain but, fun and sex is only now.

I would hope the Tempest...a perk plane that looks like crap vs the rest of the models.
