He did, but he was not exactly erhm... excited... about having to fly in buffs.  :)

You guys gotta talk to 13th TAS... It's funny to see them having to fly F6F's etc. ... but they've adjusted nicely and I think they're having fun too.  :)

The event is great, no matter what iron you are in.

I missed the event  :( but read about it in the squadron comms.  I got the feeling that it was enjoyed by all the 412th guys that flew (6 plus 1 guest I believe).  If I can get RL to co-operate I'll be in there for at least the 3rd frame...  Please bear with us 412 guys in the mean time.  Don't kick us out just because we love flying the pony!  :D

<S> Hope to join you in the scenarios soon.  :)

To be blunt, no, I was not excited about having to fly Buffs. We did it, made the best of it, and did pretty well in them, considering some of the guys barely even knew how to open the bomb bay doors (read : We don't fly buffs very often, if at all)

I love scenario play, but I love the P-51 more so. One of the only reasons I signed the 412th up is for the chance to fly the P-51 against all LW iron, instead of the constant barage of the normal MA planeset.

Flying other planes is all well and good if that's what we have to do, but in my case, don't expect much if I'm not in my favorite seat. I think my flight time in fighter A/C other than the P-51 is less than 1% of my overall total.

Not trying to sound demanding, I am just explaining where I think the 412th can best serve the allied cause.

Yeah... nah.. I understand it. I myself on at least one (or maybe two) occasions asked a frame CO for our squad to be given consideration in flying a certian AC if possible.

Of course we all love the rides we're familiar with, and of course we're going to perform better in them. Goes without saying.

Actually, there were a few different AC allowed at a couple fields I had assigned the 56th and the 13th to fly from. But I knew that the 56th were all about Jugs, and the 13th flew Stangs, so I gave them those. You stating yer preference here will go a ways in having future CO's take your plane choice into consideration. A good thing.

But I also gotta say... Our squad knew as much about LW aircraft as Bill Gates knows about the Kama Sutra <shudder>... Yet we were put on the Axis side and ended up training pretty hard in those planes. We did pretty good, we now know better how to beat them, and we had a great time while flying the TOD in them.

I wouldn't get too hung up about AC type for these TODs. Lotsa stuff to learn and lotsa fun to be had despite the planes being unfamiliar to you.

Understand that midnight. I would not have a problem giving squads what they request most of the time as a Frame C.O. I think most would feel the same, and when you are a Frame C.O. you can pick what ever ride you want.  ;)

Nash is right though, you can learn a lot from the other rides.
