terr.bmp is black / trying to clipboard my terrain
« on: January 20, 2001, 05:23:00 PM »
Just getting around to learn how to put terrain image into the clip board.

Read in previous postings, to take a birds eye view in the editor and save image with ALT-S  or look at terr.bmp.

1) terr.bmp is black, what did I do wrong?

2) can't get birds eye view because it doesn't show the entire terrain, seems like it only show about a 40mile X 40mile square.

It has to be 8 bit 256 colors to show up.

The way I make my clipboard maps is to get my terrain posistion in Ogres mapmaker utility then I make a screen capture with Irfanview to edit in Photoshop.

I scale and colorize the greyscale then add the appropriate gridline provided in the editors "maps" subdirectory.

Then you need to divide the 512x512 image into 4 sections of 256x256 working from the top left to right, and bottom left to right and name them map0,map1,map2,map3. Then place them in yout terrains folder.

Thanks jihad for answering quickly but this map is hand made in the editor  not an imported one.

I was building it in the 512 X 512 scale but even if I was using the 256 X 256 you still can't see the entire map.
