This D Day-striped Mosquito Mk VI served with 613 (City of Manchester) Squadron RAF during June 1944. This squadron began life as an Army Co operation squadron in 1939 flying Hawker Hind biplanes. During the war it was re-equipped with a succession of more powerful aircraft including Lysanders, Tomahawks and Mustang Mk Is and for the most part flew low altitude reconnaissance missions to France and Holland. In late 1943 it was re-equipped with the Mosquito Mk VI and from then until the end of the war operated in a tactical day and night strike role.
