Something that jumps out for me having retired form 34yrs in the Power utility, is the absense of interconnections with neighbouring states. Were connected with 4 other utilities outside the province so we have import options if need be..

That is incorrect. There are three transmission interchanges that “I know of” between the Texas and the Midwest. One is in the Guymon Oklahoma, one is outside of Texarkana and the other outside of Ruston Louisiana. The problem is that the population base of Texas is far enough removed from the borders of its neighboring states and the interchanges are only 69k so it would be of little use. Also the rotation of the phases don’t properly align which rules out any hot switching. Remember, there it nothing more disingenuous in life as a reporter who has reached its conclusion before the fact.
