This looks kinda fun....

Looks very interesting. I was a Sonar Tech in the Navy onboard destroyer, USS Spruance DD-963.  Though the technology has changed since WWII the basics are similar, Search, Localize and Track.  I remember logging 4hrs of stack time while tracking one of our LA Class subs during an exercise in the Caribbean Sea.

Approximately 95% of all sonar search is passive, "listening".  Depending on the area of patrol it can be very challenging, the ocean is huge but also a very noisy environment.

In boot camp I was recommended as a sonar guy but went
into the aviation side as an AE  :salute

They should remaster SH3 and bring Destroyer Command up to the same standards.  :D
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I'm usually like that with games nowadays, but this one looks like you spend the vast majority of time at a 2-d plotting table or looking at a 2-d gauge panel.

Doesn't seem like VR would add enough to that to be a deal breaker for not having it. Wouldn't mind if it did have it though.

YMMV.
