Sirius/XM Radio Billing
« on: June 08, 2022, 11:35:16 AM »
I love Sirius Radio.  I've had it a long time and I allow them to charge my card automatically when it is time to renew.  Big mistake!  I chiefly enjoy Phlash Phelps in the AM  60s' Gold classics and I believe it's Pat St-John who follows him.  Both are like the DJs' that I listened to during the 60's while cruising.

So..............yesterday I received my credit card bill for one year.  It sure wasn't what I signed on for ten years ago.  The bill was 352 dollars!!  WTF.....  I recently purchased a new-used slightly, Jeep Trailhawk.  This allows me to keep the Hellcat in the garage during the winter and in-climate weather.  I put about 1000 miles on the HC during the summer.

Now about Sirius.  To say the least I was angry..very angry.  No notification about the bill and how much it would be they just arbitrarily charged my card which I gave them the right to do so.

I called Sirius in an angry mood and told them to drop my subscription to the Hellcat.  As for the Jeep, naturally I got an email when I purchased the Jeep about a 3 month free trial.  They wanted me to also have Sirius in my Jeep.  I told them to forget it! I have plenty of FM stations in my area I don't need either subscription.  They told me wait a minute!  Wait a minute!

To keep this short I got both my vehicles subscribed for a little over 8 dollars a month.  Told then to inform me when my subscriptions run out before charging my card.

To my mind this is an underhanded way to do business.  Be aware!

I had Sirius radio for a couple years, use Pandora now, and I had to do the same thing each year.  Each year it was due, the subscription price would go way up from the "introductory price" I started with and I would just call and tell them I was dropping it if I didn't get it at the same price I had been paying.  Every time they would reduce the price.  Just make you go through the trouble of calling.  I didn't use auto-pay and try to never do.

They aren't alone in the underhandedness.  My Bassmaster membership automatically goes to auto-pay as soon as you pay even if it is manually.  You have to call/email to tell them to take it off auto-pay, it is not on your online account.  If my membership gets renewed automatically it is $30 if I do it manually it is $15 and you get some free chachke gifts supposedly worth $50.  No gifts if it is auto.

Cable tv same bs..

When you sign up you qualify for discounts that expire and raise your rates without them raising your prices

Sales gimmicks which are more dishonest than honest..

Same thing here Hajo. After a 5 year hiatus, I re-sub'd to Sirius on a $9.95 @ month teaser deal. The 12 month renew on my CC was $24.95!!! MY FAULT as I had a stocky note up on the wall calendar reminding me to cancel before it renewed. I only got pinched for 1 month, thankfully. The best part was having to speak to someone IN PERSON in order to cancel. They fought me tooth & nail trying to keep me on....free months....cheaper deal...shorter sub times...on and on it went. Finally I got pissed, told them to cancel my account and ended the call.

Speaking of radio....Hajo, remember WIXY 1260 back in the 60's??? I made my dad roll around town in his Olds 88 with an orange ball on top of the antenna...lololol  :devil

All you have to do is call and say you want a lower price. Now my bill is paid by my CC so I don't care, but agreed it is kind of a PITA. I noticed in the last year on the Sirius site you can do it on the web rather than call now at least.

 YUP!!!

At night I could get a station outta Detroit can’t remember the call sign but they played Motown all the time and I just couldn’t get that stuff where I lived. Then I discovered this new format called FM, we had a 75ft tower for tv and it picked up FM,rarely listened to AM after that, only when forced to in the car…weren’t many FM radios in cars back then. If you were styling you used an 8 track.

But I’m not quite as old as you Hajo….
