I don't think anyone at all should pay taxes if we can simply print 5 trillion every 10 months. If we have to print that much, and still pay 25% of our taxes to the government + property + sales + others. Something is wrong there, but what do I know. IMO, high taxes are one of the main reasons why the world's countries have remained poor and have not been as prosperous as the US. It basically prevents citizens from saving their own money. It's not until the 1970s where taxes really started to hold Americans back, among other things after a few decades of the income tax started to really have an effect. Nothing holds society back moreso than stealing their money.

IMO, everyone should simply only pay 10% of their direct earnings to state and federal taxes. If the government cannot operate on that, than the government is too big. Property and sales tax are theft the way I see it.

I used to support flat tax until I research it more.

It's insanely regressive. It puts a much higher burden on the poor.

If you are barely making ends meet and have to another 10% that can break you.

If you are Paris Hilton wiping her butt with $1000 bills, 10% won't even be noticed.

You would actually have far more people paying taxes. 10% meh who cares I'll pay it... 40%? F that, I'm hide and cover up and skirt the law and use the law to my advantage to avoid paying it. And that's what people do. You'd have far less fraud at 10%. 10% for the poor would be a lot better than the 30% they are paying now. Everyone pays the same for gas prices.. right. That hurts the poor a lot more too. Also what is considered poor? I think allowing people to have the opportunity to become wealthy is more important than holding wealthy people to pay more because they became successful for their choices rather than squander the opportunity.

my total income right now is 525 a month. 600 in taxes is a lot for me. even when I worked I  paid around 9% federal.
