Fw 190A-8 of 7./Jg 26, flown by it's commander, Waldemar Radener, in early May 1944. He scored his 20th victory on May 9th with this aircraft, W.Nr. 340001. It must have needed repairs since two day later he was flying W.Nr. 680120 "Brown 2" when he downed a B-24 and collided with another. Radener bailed out and the B-24 was able to fly back to England despite the damage. The next day, "Brown 4" would also be destroyed when one of the lesser experienced pilots, Gerhard Langhammer, taxied into a bomb crater when landing after a post-repair test flight. Langhammer suffered severe head injuries. Radener would finish the war with 37 victories as commander of II/Jg 300. After the war, Waldemar Radener would return to the military with the creation of the Bundeswehr in 1956. In January 1957, he would be killed after crashing a T-6 Texan during spin recovery training. He was the first Bundeswehr pilot to die in a flying incident.
This aircraft was painted in the standard gray camouflage scheme with a wavy demarcation on the fuselage sides. IFF markings consist of yellow painted rudder and lower cowling. Brown tactical number and gruppe ID bar were unique to 7./Jg 26 at this time.
