This one struck me as a real pleasant-looking Jug. The nose art on the right side may help her stand out a bit when viewed in the hangar. Still have a few tweaks to complete but hope to submit tomorrow.
Assigned to Capt Gordon Stevens of the 63rdFS, she failed to return from a strafing mission on 9 Sep 44. Her pilot that day was Capt Roy T Fling. According to the MACR, Capt Fling's plane was last seen in the vicinity of the position of the target, a convoy spotted west of Hulst. The report also holds a document of the German authorities who found the crashed plane (P-47 'Pat' 42-28543) in Etten-Leur, without the pilot on board. It is almost certain that Capt Fling bailed out, but where he bailed out (above land or water) is not known and he remains missing in action.
