If you have never played these 2 games...

You need to. They survive the test of time.

With Zork we had an easel in the kitchen to map out the adventure. Only text but you built the world in your mind. Which is amazing.

The second is Myst. A puzzle game. The first, and it rocks.

Myst, Yes! Totally absorbed with that game back in the late '90s.

Was/is there an updated version? I would enjoy giving it another go.

Didn't play Zork but did try Myst. Didn't care for it at all. The graphics were great but I am just not a puzzle person and got bored with it.

Same here. Found the Myst Masterclass Edition CD for a fiver in a bargain bin. Tried it but a) couldn't figure out many puzzles as the language is foreign to me and b) the accuracy needed to find buttons and switches didn't seem to scale on a modern high resolution screen.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Back then, my sons in their early teens and I would sit in front of the computer for an hour or two after dinner each night and work our way through the game. It was fun and great way to spend time together. I think one or both of them were cheating and looking up answers to the puzzles during the day when I was at work, but it was still fun  :D

Same here fugi. My best friend would come over and he, my wife and I would sit at the computer and play them. Great times. My friend and I would also play a baseball game for Hours...

Hah i remember myst. Pretty sure i bought it in a bargain bin at Walmart or circuit city as well. I also wasnt smart enough to figure out much either.. now i also remember i had bought Duke nukem 3d at Walmart and was disapointed to learn they censor the strippers titties in the Walmart version.

Graphics sure came a long way since then   :rofl -edit- if we're talking text based games it's hard to beat L.O.R.D (legend of the red dragon)

In the mid-80s I managed a computer shop mostly selling games (Commodore/Atari/Amstrad/PC) - glorious days   :joystick:

Some older games are just fun to keep around. I kept my old gaming computer running win 7. That way I can still play C&C MOH Far Cry and a couple other titles.

I spent a ton of time playing Doom and another game Descent. My girlfriend at the time tried to watch me play descent and complained she was getting sea sick from the screen motions. You don't see any games like descent any more.
