USP: v3.0?
« on: August 15, 2001, 07:17:00 PM »
Now that I know what the 1.08 aircraft are I can tell you two things. Yes, I can throw out the Ultimate Sound Pack v3.0 with some tinkering. No, I can't do a new engine set for the Hurricane as I ran out of sounds! Thankfully I'm not many short; 3 sounds to be exact are needed. A damn fine engine run, a base sound for the 40mm that I can warp into something that'll vibrate your floor, and a new touchdown tire squeal. The rest of the 1.08 aircraft are already done cause they use the same sounds other planes do.

Me-262 - uses Arado sound set plus a new 30mm gun sound.
Tu-2 - has the same engine as the La-5, existing gun sounds work fine.
F4U-1A - uses F4U-1C/D sounds.
Hurricane - problem! Engine run being the biggest one I'm missing.
P-51H (if included) - uses the P-51B/D sound set.

If you've got a great engine run, or you think you do, post it!

I'd think the single-stage Merlin driving a 3 blade prop in the Hurri would sound a lot like the single-stage Merlin driving a 3 blade prop in the Spit V.   :)

Yeah, they would sound a lot alike. Which in the case of my current Spit V/Seafire engine run is like a Cessna using a lawn mower's muffler. Hence my need for a better engine sound. I haven't ever liked the Spit V/Seafire engine sound I picked, but it got picked cause I ran out of good ones at the last minute. Hmmmm, no one but dweebs fly the N1K so I think it should sacrifice the sounds it uses. After all, I've got a nice TIE Fighter sound set ready for it!  :)

I always thought the original Wabbit sound pack Spitfire sound was nice, and sounded like a Spit IX I heard at Chino.  IIRC it was a recording of a real Merlin.
