Quest 2 1080 ti

I have 2 computers that are identical other then the video cards
12100/1070/32gb/quest2
and
12100/1080ti/32gb/quest2

The issue I have is low FPS and low GPU/CPU usage in some games but not others. It seems to run fin in World of Warcraft for example.

On the computer with the 1070 the frame rates are higher and the CPU and GPU usages are higher, sometimes in the 90ies for the GPU and the 50ies for the CPU.

I think it would be easier to figure it out if it was the same in all of the games but it's not consistent...

Just wondering if it could be power or heat related. Or to be more exact, thermal throttling. The 1080Ti being a powerful factory overclocked card will also produce more heat which may cause it to start protecting itself by lowering voltages and clock rates. It could be something that simple.

Underclocking your GPU might help keeping the temperatures low, thus allowing it to maintain the highest possible performance for longer periods. Of course the peak performance will be lower but the average FPS may be higher.

I forgot to mention that the temps were running <55C on the card but I turned the fans all to 100% which cooled it even more. This didn't change anything.

The thing that's got me scratching my head is how it runs full tilt on some games but not on others.

In Nvidia control panel, 3D settings you can choose individual programs then force it to use maximum performance. May make a difference, worth a shot.

You're a genious SNO. I was just logging on to let everybody know that I had just figured it out.

The Nvidia control panel somehow had different settings for the different games and they were good on the games that were running well and everything was maxed out on this one that was running like crap.

I have no idea how the configurations got changed as I never changed them but it's working like a champ now!

Good to know it wasn't what I feared.

The Nvidia control panel didn't pop into my mind as I always leave it to default and do the settings in each game. Also, if you use GeForce Experience it may change the settings without you knowing how and why.

This is exactly what happened. It seems like it thinks it knows best how to configure the settings for each game which it obviously did not.

I didn't think to look there because I hadn't made any changes there.
