P-47D-25 Adoption - 86thFG 527thFS "Rabbit"
« on: February 27, 2024, 05:44:33 PM »
Adoption of one of my favorites of Krusty's P-47D skins, "Rabbit" from the 86th FG.  Could not find any photos of her, but there are several color profiles available, decal sets, and some B&W photos of other birds from the same group.   Could not find any info on the serial number of the plane, or who the pilot was.   The 86th FG was part of the 12th AF and served in the Mediterranean Theater, providing close air support to ground forces from bases in Sicily, Italy, Corsica, France, and Germany as the War progressed.

Here is the current skin in-game:

And one the more helpful color profiles:

Very pretty.  The markings look painted on.  Perfectly rendered.

(Image removed from quote.)

This has to be the pilot.

Manual "Rabbit" Pidcock.

You can just barely make out a rabbit just in front of the text facing the prop.

Nice confirmation that the background to the gunsite reticule is white.  I had been wondering about that, thinking it may have been unpainted.
