784th Tank Battalion Sherman

Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin.

This M4A3 76mm tank was part of the US 784th Tank Battalion, a segregated battalion with coloured troops and junior officers but with white senior officers. In early 1945 the battalion was attached first to the 104th and then to the 35th Infantry Divisions. They took part in Operation Blackcock, the Anglo-American offensive to drive the German 15th Army back in an area near the German/Dutch border and into Germany. This was ultimately successful but came at a heavy cost in men and machines.

This tank had an unusual three tone scheme with a third colour added over usual olive drab and black US scheme. Analyzing the shades in the photo this seems to have been a colour mid way between the OD and black. As there is no US colour that matches the tone I went with captured German red brown as the most likely option.
