real world B-17 bomber flying.
« on: September 03, 2001, 08:59:00 PM »
At the airport by my work we have one of the 11 B-17 bombers. I thinks her name is Yankee Lady. She was flying from 6am till 2:30ish. The whole time i was at work. it made my day. I spent more time looking up in the sky then i did at my work.  :D

Here are some shots of her in flight.
Sorry the picture isnt as clear but when i shrunk the picture the image got grainy.

The Bomber did fly right over head. So low i could see her rivets. I tryed to take a snapshot but my camera was full

You work near Bishop International?

I ask because Sunday afternoon I heard the rumble of what I knew was a couple of huge warbird engines.
I was in my home office and ran my fat bellybutton outside as fast as I could, but by the time I got out there, they were out of sight.
My wife said there were 5 war type aircraft in formation.

I live under the normal flight path but the many tall trees make it difficult for the view to last.  :(

I think there giving rides or something because it takes off for 30 minutes then lands again for 15 minutes then takes off again.

Did you see the P-51 mustang today (Sep 4th) around 2pm?

DId you go to the Fighter excibit a few weeks ago? I wanted to see the P-47.

Went to the yankee airforce's flyin a few weeks ago. I brought my camcorder and 2 tapes, and took about 2 hours of footage.  :) I just wish I had a dat recorder or something better than what is on my dv cam. could've got some awesome start/runup sounds.

A few select pics (sorry about the quality, trying out some new software):

Was a fun day tho.
