Well Daddog, Our base was switched to V33 but it didn't make much of a difference. We had 6 t34's rollin. We had Redmaw,Propmaw {I beleive},Death5,Ghosth,Westy, and myself RazorDD. We rolled out and all quickly became seasick on that darn rolling terrain :) We headed due south stopping in both cities we rolled through for some recon but nothing in sight. When we found the NME VH suddenly some shells started coming our direction. We scanned the horizon and finally saw the 2 Panzers shooting at us. We kept the engagement long range shooting and moving until we realized those 2 were all we were going to see. So we rolled forward. I was in front at this point I beleive. 1 got killed and the other was smoking but he was still rolling. I popped up over a little hill and there he was we couldn't have been more than 300 yds away from each other. I popped into my turret view and tried a couple quick shots while rolling to hit him but bouncing around as bad as I was I couldn't hit him. I am assuming the same was true for him. So I popped back into the drivers seat and slammed on the brakes popped back into the turret put the crosshair on him and fired and BOOMM!!! up he went   We all rolled into towards the base further. The 2 panzers reupped and tried valiantly to defend themselves but we basically had em surrounded. As they stopped to fire at one of us another would stop and pound on em. I think I helped damage both of em but didn't get the death blow on either of em. So we rolled in on the base killed the ack and drove right up to the VH and started pumping lead into it until it exploded. Then a long 45 min drive home to our VH which some JU88's had bomber for us.

This tank battle woulda really been fun had the Axis put out 6 tanks "which I thought was supposed to be the minumum" I really felt for those 2 they didn't have a chance.

lol, Razor... those two unfortunate and similarly seasick bastards were USArmy and myself. Seriously, I got a wicked headache from trying to watch the screen... is that really necessary, CMs?

First engagement... we stopped just beyond the forest to scan the horizon... target sighted... make that three targets... uhh, 4... 5... 6... uh oh. Army and I turned around to take cover in the trees (it occurs to me now that you guys probably didn't know there were trees because of the way ground clutter is drawn... we probably handicapped ourselves :(  ... at least the ground was smooth in the forest). Army reported a couple of hits on the enemy, while my rounds seemed to be getting awfully close to target, but just not quite. I radioed Army to say I was running North-east to divide their fire, when I saw his Panzer explode. Plan 2: try to run through them, get behind them, wait for Army to return with backup. *Clank*!... turret disabled! Tried to run anyway, firing with only my pintle gun as I got close. Only survived another minute or so. Army had scored a kill in this first battle.

Minor reupping probs, but Raub and Sling were quick to respond.

Second engagement: Army was only about 1.8 k ahead of me in his second tank, so I thought I'd swing North-east again to put some distracting distance between us. In the minutes it took to re-up, the enemy had advanced quite a bit, so we didn't last too long. I received three consecutive direct hits (nice aiming, whoever!) and promptly died.

About the minimum... I don't know how to address this issue. Sure our squad has about ten guys in it, and the most we had show up at any one time was four. We have three active duty servicemen and the rest all have active lives and responsibilities (I know I do). We accept the fact that we will get slaughtered, and we always do. Sometimes it's severely frustrating, but it's always fun. In Frame 2 I was the only one in that night, flying a 190 against seven LA-5s. I lasted a whole fifteen minutes total.

For what it's worth, being outnumbered is what war is about.

Thanks for the fun battle, guys

LOL DUX. Actually I checked the logs and the one I hit int he first engagement I didn't get the credit for. But the one in the second engagement I drew a bead on and hit 3 or 4 times real quick it gave me that kill even tho the final blow came from elsewhere. I do beleive the log said it was you I will ahve to check on that again. I got nothing but good things to say about the TOD so far I enjoy the heck out of it. I really would have liked to see 6 tanks opposing us tho. It would have been real interesting. And yes you were right we didn't see the trees you werte hiding in :) we noticed later all the craters around in the trees and said to ourselves WOW they thought they were in cover cause we didn't even see them trees ;)  But it was fun wish you guys coulda had some backup there Next time there's a tank battle planned I would voluteer for it again. It's a nice change only wish it didn't take so darn long to get home :)

RazorDD

PS.. Nope wasn't me in the second engagement on you I got credit for an assist on you first. Then got credit for a kill on  usarmy.  I don't remember LOL maybe it was me with the 3 hits in a row cause I hammered one like that in the second one can't really tell by the logs I forgot to film so I can't look there oh well anyway it was AWESOME

Very briefly, we (6 tanks) all held at the city edge to see what was happening out there. We wanted to be able to pull any tanks we saw back in to the city for an ambush :)   But we did not see much till your shots gave you away :) When the shots begun to be exchanged I'd said watch the flanks as I could not believe there were only two of you. And when no others showed up or gave themselves away it was ... "KILL THEM!"  time :)

You almost got me Dux at one point. I was stuck out a bit beyond one building when I saw your shot come towards me. I swiftly slammed it into reverse and got out of the way just in the nick of  time. Nice shot too.

As for how we had 7 tank? (We lost one guy right off the bat. He dumped or something) Anyway, we filled the slots by way of having a "volunteer" join the Army from each of the VVS outfits. That way no one squad or group was hurt much by the absence of one or two people.

IMO being there were only two Axis tanks the ground war should have been called or the CM's should have limited the Allies to only two also. ^ on 2 was more than you guys could have handled.

I have the whole enounter filmed but the enemy (you and USArmy) don't show for some reason :(

Dux. The rides are rough. Tested them myself before I wanted to try the tanks. Sundog is aware of the bumpy ride. Not sure what can be done.

Wish you had more turn out for your squad. Would you guys consider joining other squads? You need at least 3 per frame to stay in the TOD.

How about on my next Special Events BB post I mention the squads that are looking for members. Could I put in a plug for your squad? May I post your e-mails? Let me know, I will do what I can to help out.

Sounds like the tank battles can be fun given two lives. :)

Westy... so you guys were in a city? This limited ground clutter issue really does take any strategy out of the tank battles... otherwise a group of two could very possibly ambush a force of six... or at least last a little longer. CMs might want to take that into account when planning. Maybe someday we'll have more permanent ground details in the game... or maybe just for Special Events anyway.

All said, I had a really fun time. Tank battles were a nice change.

Daddog, I wouldn't mind at all doubling up with another squad. I'll leave the final word up to USArmy, but I'm sure he's all for it.

Dux. You guys let me know. If I post to the SEABB you might pick up one or two and that would be all you need.
jwg11@mlode.com

If not you have lots of good squads to choose from, but I would rather see your squad remain.

Yes Dux, you saw us but not the city buildings we were in or behind us?   Damn.  Nothing like thinking we had a good ambush set up only to realise afterward we were like elephants hiding behind a single blade of grass :)

I did not know that. And we did not see the trees you were in or had just come ouyt from. This will be a major issue for ground battles unless HTC can extend the LOD range. Which may up the specs for AH though :(
