Hi folks I had fun last night .. actually since writing the orders for Frame 1 I've been having fun! I was speaking with sling on RW during the event and we were commenting on the radar.

At the begining we could see Axis activity in the Calais area and I would think they could see activity over Dover. I mentioned in the orders to the Axis that "the British could see our planes almost on takeoff ...." But I really didn't expect it to happen like that. I did not think that the prot of Dover would be in dar range at the start and that is my fault. I know some about how the Radar was set-up in Southern England, but I'm certainly no expert. In reality it could see farther than 25 miles, but not at lower alts. That is where Chain Home and Chain Home Low came from. As well British dar could not see behind it hence the observer corps. We want to make it as realistic as we can, but AH dar is not that adjustable. We could geive you guys NO DAR under XXXX feet though:)

We are used to flying in the dark in the TOD's and it was nice to have some added worry in the Frame .. we'll definately keep the dar for all Frames:)

My point .. and there really is one:

Should we neuter the dar somewhat to around 15 - 20 miles? Some of you are flying in the Saturday TOD also and I "think" it's around 15 miles. Or do you like it as is

I want to get a concensus of the FRIDAY participants so tht we can adjust it we need to.

It's your event so speak up:)

We did it the FDB way nifty ... die in the first 1/2 hr:)

When will the C.O's learn to NOT task us with important stuff?

Actually I ran into no Ack over the Shore guns! I believe the FDB were supposed to clear ack, which they did. According to some reports from the LW, there were at least 10-11 LW fighters over the shore batteries. At one time I seen about 3 B26s in flames with about 3-5 LW fighters going down also. It was extremely intense!!

My gunner Razor got one fighter, and I exploded another who flew in front of me. All I had to do was pull the trigger!

It was a great trip. I dont mind getting shot down as long as I have fun doing it!!

Daddog, we need to find a way to get that RW working from the #5 voice channel. Either that, or run AHVoice. I would of loved to hear voice comms from that attack!!!

I want to thank the 332nd for allowing me to fly with them in this TOD. It was a hoot!!!

Heh...well I guess when you look at it Swagger's way, we did do our job.

I took out 3 of the ack guns and Skernsk got the other 2. The rest of the FDBs were dead before we got to target. We saw the hi cons and thought we could make it to target and then drag them away but they were way faster than we were and the rest of the guys never had a chance....except for Myelo. He crashed over England...lucky bastard.

I'll go with consesus vote. No matter to me, though I prefer no radar whatsoever even as historically it is inaccurate.

Radar did not bother me at all and it coverig 25 miles from each of your facilities really didn't screw up the LW plans. In actuality I mapped out your dar coverage and did my best to use it against you guys.

By this I mean I know you saw us coming up in the Calais area in force. You were meant too .. I could have LW planes up from fields not covered by your radar. But I wanted to rivet your attention in the east and make you think the main LW effort was there. So by upping fighters in your radar we hoped you fall into the trap of using the radar as a crutch and jump to conclusions.

In the Calais area we upped I think 25 - 27 fighters and then 4 JU88 out of your dar range. We sent 2 of the JU88s to the east and North .. staying out of dar range and had them hold till we deemed the right time to strike intoward your radar.

The 13th TAS besides being used as scouts were also sent out to trip setoff your radar around your CV. Again hopefully making your think the east and the CV was our main attack areas.

I then found several gaps in your radar coverage in the west and we mapped out a course to drive the 457th through them and only give you radar countacts when we were 1 sector away from target.

So as for dar and its range .. really didn't affect us except in the fact that we did our best to use it against you by trying to trick you into going where we wanted the RAF to be.

True .. but studying my stuff just tells you how I think and plan. Next axis C in C I am sure thinks differently me and will have different tactics.

Then again since we are the two biggest squads and will always be on different sides .. maybe I should keep my mouth shut.

Btw it was good frame and the low level B26 strike caught me off guard. I expected a B26 strike from the direction but thought it would up high not low. The extra minutes it took for our LW planes to get down without lawn darting I think really paid off for you guys.

That was really well done.

Dar will stay the same for FRAME 2.

DAR? Who Had time to watch DAR from the ime we first rolled until my Merlin quit and I went MIA over the channel (ISP Disco) I was too busy avoiding getting shot by 190's and 109's to look at the DAR.

That frame was intense!

It was a good frame. I like the Europe map --- action is confined and staying alive is a real challenge.
