I ran the belarc advisor program and found some duplicate devices
heres what a copied out of the info provided by the belarc program.

Other Devices:
1394 Host Controller
CanoScan N650U/N656U
CanoScan N650U/N656U #2
General Purpose USB Hub
General Purpose USB Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller
VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller

how do i go about removing these duplicates (win xp home version)

The duplicate USB stuff is OK.  It just means your mobo has 2 of 'em.

But the duplicate scanner is weird.  I would shut down, unplug it, start up, uninstall it in Device Manager, shut down, plug it back in, start up, then reinstall it.
