Lockups
« on: June 15, 2002, 03:20:47 PM »
I am having probs with lockups also:confused: I have downloaded every update I can find but to no avail. This is a new SY-K7ADA  soyo main board with a AMD XP 1700+ at 1.5 ghz, TNT M64 video, soundblaster 5.1. It has 512 mb DDR and a 40 gig WD 7200 HD. I have downloaded and instaled the latest MB drivers and video updates. but still no joy. I can go into the MA and sometimes play for a few mins then some times it will lockup with a high pitch noise.

eeeek nice machine, poor video card... but besides that...

Try opening your case and placing a fan blowing into the case.

Just a possibility that something might be overheating..

Now that ya mention it I think the video card may be overheating.
It has 2 case fans but the card only has a heat sink and latly it has been locking up at odd times.
Thanx F105D airmegedon squadron

What OS and what driver version are you using?  Often, later model nVidia drivers don't work so well with the older cards, and can cause problems.  See my sig. for my recommendations.
