Remember to check your refresh rate after you launch Aces High.

If your monitor shows 60hz refresh rate, you have to run a program like nvreffix or better, multires which will enable you to pick an optimal refresh rate for your games.

W2k and XP display drivers all default Direct3D games to 60hz and it can't be changed from the desktop.

/Edit this concerns only Nvidia users to my knowledge.

It can be changed from the desktop:

1. Start / Run / dxdiag.exe
2. Tab "More Help"
3. Button "Override"
4. "Override value" - i.e. "85" - mean 85Hz

This method is not safe for beginner users since it lets you exceed the refresh rate your monitor supports. That may lead to hardware damage..

The programs in question sniff the monitor properties and adjust the refreshes accordingly.

I think the latest driver revision release from NVidia (Det XP 29.42) has the refresh rate fix added.

It's better to use multires since nvref doesn't support all versions of detonators..

Try here

I changed to 85hz in DX Diag. Most monitors will support 85 and it's ample in AH.

A bigger problem is OpenGL Games esp Medal Of Honor and Il2 Sturmovik , which defaults to 60mhz. Sore eyes:(

Theres not DX fix for that. I use Powerstrip, which is worth having for lots of other reasons.

Microsoft should be torched for allowing this. It is a Windows problem rather that Vid Drivers apparently.

Let them know how unhappy you are.

Oh boy.. This is one of the least reasons why MS should be torched :)
