A look ahead to the next Friday TOD...
« on: June 19, 2002, 09:57:33 AM »
Given that (hopefully) version 1.10 will be out in the next few weeks, it should happen before or around the start of the July TOD for Friday nights.  As I know you expect us CM guys to be right on top of things, we'll be taking advantage of the new release to take everyone on a little trip to a chain of islands known as the Solomons!  ;)  This is of course dependent on the actual 1.10 release as well as a terrain being completed (raxx is working on it.)

Brief glimpse of the planes we'll be using for this one...

US forces
F4F-4
SBD-5 (subbing in for the SBD-3)
TBM-3 (subbing in for the TBF-1)
possibility of a P-40 variant.  The P-40D was stationed at Guadalcanal with the 67th Pursuit Squadron.

IJN forces
A6M2
D3A1
possible TBM-3 (subbing for the B5N2.  yeah this bites, but no IJN torp bomber announced as of yet)

Expect to see strikes against naval vessels, as well as the IJN trying to neutralize Henderson Field on Guadalcanal.

A full writeup will be coming in the next week or so, but I figured you guys would wanna know as soon as we decided on what to do next.  ;)

Would be a shame to have an early Pac set without a IJN torp bomber. :/

You guys did ask for one right?

It'd take Natedog and Superfly years to model everything we "asked" for.  ;)

Nifty, that sounds great.  I suspect there'll be a few more aircraft included in 1.10.  IMO, all we need for the USA is a green P-38 (and I'd personally like to see a *three-tone* F6F-3.)

There's nothing like the South Pacific theater.  Coconut drinks, hula girls, warm beaches, painted sunsets, being adrift for weeks after a bailout, sharks, headhunters and cannibals.

I see many good Snapshots, ToDs and Special Events to come.  It's all good!
