California State Senate Wastes No Time

SB 1248 is already on the floor.

Quote
SB 1248, as amended, Knight.  Patriotic exercise and instruction.
Existing law requires that every public school conduct daily
patriotic exercises.  Existing law provides that this requirement may
be satisfied through giving the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of
the United States of America.
This bill would require that the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag
of the United States of America be recited each day during the school
year. The bill would declare that a pupil  or school employee
who does not wish to participate may remain silent and seated
in the classroom  , and would require school districts to provide
notice to pupils and school employees, using an existing
communication by the school district, of the right not to participate
in that exercise  .

Hmmm... I'm clueless. Can the state override the decision of the federal court?

Oh man.   It's not because I pledged allegiance to our flag and country every morning of my first 5 years of school that I love this country.  This is starting to strike me a bit "Orwellian" and of having a hint of scary.

courts do not make law , they can only rule on the constitutionality of a law after the law has been challanged by a law suit

Hmmm... the 9th Circuit Court has ruled on the Constitutionality of the Pledge. The state than creates a new law stating that the pledge will be recited...

We, poor Asian barbarians, didn't have anything like that  in Soviet times...

USA looks more and more like Soviet Union since 9.11. Even worse.

WTG.

Another reason not to emigrate. I've had enough of it in school, since 1979. Freedom, you say!?

Trollmiester Boroda... shaddup already willya?  Your making a tard outta yourself... it's not pretty man, really.   The U.S. is nowhere near your beloved communist USSR.  I've yet to see a single bread line.  I've seen a couple Prime Rib lines though... does that count?

Don't worry Boroda, we all know how great the USSR was.....

Best thing my country ever did was telling you Russians to back the diddly off.

You and you buddies can laugh at that too.....

Haven't you actually read that proposal?

In one line it says you must give a patriotic action of some sort, and in the very next line it says it is NOT mandatory.

In other words this law is not actually a law at all.  It's just a suggestion that you can ignore at your convience.

Hans.

Hans, I'm so glad my representatives wasted their time and my money on this instead of working on more important matters.  No wonder it is taking OREA more than 45 days and possibly up to 60-days to review 5-pieces of paper to renew my appraisal license.  However, I only got it in a month early and so as of right now I'm out of work and starving until who knows when...and trust me, they don't care because I've done everything I can to try to get them to expedite the process.  Thanks for working on the important things, my representatives!  I'll find someone else to vote for and pledge to next time.
