FLCS/TQS vs Win2k Pro!
« on: July 15, 2002, 09:25:05 PM »
My stick woes are at an end, at least until I wear out this FLCS :D

Now here's my current problem.  Apparently Win2k Pro doesn't like the TM b50load.exe run from the console.  It gets to the point where it brings up the status bar after hitting S1 and just stops.  I've let it sit for 15min (the time set for monitor sleep).

While digging through some stuff in the TM folder I found winload from stickworks.  Gave it a shot as the loader through Fox Two and it says something about can't access the VxD.  That a virtual device driver right?

Anywho, the current convoluted way I have to load my sticks is to reboot the machine from the cd rom with my old win98se disc and let it start into dos that way, then load up the files, pull out the disc, and reboot again.

Is there an easier way to do this?  Or am I stuck like this?

The only way that's easier is to get the digital chips.  SOB has the link, I believe.

Yeah DjV, I'm looking into that.  I was at stickworks.com earlier today.  Just gotta find some spare coin to get'em :D

So basically, I'm stuck with the convoluted rebooting to load my b50 files?  So be it I guess.

Now how do I go about makin a floppy I can boot from and do it and quit messin with the cd :D

Open regedit and navigate to this value. Make sure you export a copy of the registry key prior to modifying it in case you need to restore it.

[HLKM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\RUN].

Expand the Run folder icon in the left Explorer window with a click, then add a new entry by right clicking in the opposite window and choose string value,  rename it to TmLoad and close it.

Right click on the new value, choose modify and enter the full path to where b50load.exe file is installed, save it, close regedit and restart.

The file will now be loaded by W2K every time the system starts.

Cool, thanks for that info weazel.  I guess that will let b50load run in w2k w/o all the reboots?

Ok weaz.. were you yankin my chain with this one?

All that did was on reboot it opened the console window and ran b50load, and promptly gave me the error that it couldna find the b50 file.  That could be alleviated by adding the path\filename for the b50 file, but it still doesn't seem like it will solve my problem.  It just runs b50load on boot up.  I can run b50 load, but when it actually gets to the step where it's supposed to upload the file it hangs.

Hiya Caveman;

GO HERE

I suggest reading the whole thing, But I found items more specific to your prob beginning on pgs. 31 thru 34.

Also, while reading, pull the base off, and see if you have a broken wire showing.

Good luck !
