"Big Week" Planning
« on: September 17, 2002, 11:35:32 AM »
With the intention of creating an even better experience in the CT, during the "Big Week" setup I propose through cooperation we set-up and run a player event.  That way we will be better able to experience the feeling of the big bomber raids.

The CT is an open arena but there's nothing stopping us from running things for one night in a somewhat organized fashion.  So along that line, if any squad COs are interested in participating in a big bomber raid, whether it be flying a buff, escort or intercepting LW please email me thebug@rochester.rr.com and let me know what you're interested in flying and how many from your squad would be attending.  That way we can get numbers balanced.  Also if you are an individual pilot with no squad affiliation(yet :) ) still feel free to email me and we'll get you hooked up with a flight.

Once we kinda get the numbers for each side set, I can handle coordinating the Allied side of things, but we would need somebody to handle the LW.  So if you're interested in that position please let me know that also.

I'm gonna set the tentative date for this to happen on Tuesday Oct. 1 at 9pm EDT, but that would be open to change if necessary to accomodate more people.  880 squadron should be able to have around 6 guys available and we'd be willing to fly buff or escort as needed.

I plan on posting this information on the Main forum with that hope that we can entice some historically minded people/squads out of the MA for one night to see what the CT is all about.  Who knows this might help grow the CT population.  But I figured I'd post in here to see if the regular CT crowd is interested first.

This first post is just to see if there is an interest and if it is worth pursuing.  So if you are interested please let me know.  We have a good community here, so let's tap into that so we can create a memorable night for all involved.

Just to clarify, the CT is an open arena and I am just a player with no CM power.  If we run this "event" I will in no way attempt to influence any pilots that just wish to fly without participating.  This is volunteers only, but I hope everyone can see the benefits of working together.

I think it's a great idea, Bug.  Unfortunately, Tuesday evening is Boy Scout night, so I take my son to his troop meeting.  If I don't get back too late, I'll try to hop in and fly for which ever side needs it. !

P.S. I'll hop into the arena Tuesday afternoon, as soon as I get home from work, to make sure everything's up and running.  I'll also insure it won't be twilight or night during "prime-time."

Thanks Sabre.

Hijacker I'm gonna shoot for the buffs to launch at 9:30pm EDT to better fit Vf-27s usual schedule.  It's pretty much gonna be just like the mission you ran, couple weeks back.  Nothing too formal, but figured I'd try to get more of the community involved.
      Thanks
