Your preferred CAS ride, and why?

Well, there was much anticipation just before the Typhoon was released that it would be the ultimate close-air-support (CAS) and battlefield interdiction aircraft; the perfect counter to the simultainiously released ground vehicles.  In the CAS role, we have five rides to choose from: P-51, P-38, F4U, Typhoon, and Fw190.  So which do you think is the best (or that you prefer), and why?

My preference is the F4U-1C.  It has a heavy and varied A2G loadout, and has more cannon ammo/gun than any other A/C in AH.  Plus, it has good A2A capability once the ord is dropped/jettisoned.  Anyone else want to comment?

If I'm going tank hunting I go with the 1c also.

I mostly drive tanks now and the only AC I hate to see is the 1c or a buff..the rest I don't worry to much about.

FW190 !
20 + 30 mm 's eats the Tanks for lunch & the M16's for breakfast ! (Only 1 Bomb allowed though, but who needs a 500lb Bomb when U have 30 mm's !)

I also like it's speed on the Deck & is a very stable gun platform compared to the Chicken O ' the sea...


Besides, the FW190 is my usual ride

My preferred CAS ride is the P47 Thunderbolt. Oneday, lots of pizzas and a couple bottles of scotch from now, maybe I'll have it...

190 for all the reasons Saw mentioned, and, it catches  those opposing low F4U-1C's when they are low.

Even then it'l be a heart rending effort to stop using the 38.

Typhoon.

Carries as much bombload as any fighter.

Massive 4 x Hispano armament.  

Nothing can catch it on the deck.

F4U-1C. The best gun package in the game, the highest ammo load, good ordinance, fairly maneuverable (the Tiffie is NOT) and tough as nails.

The Tiffie's speed is only good if I run- and I don't.

Is there really any CAS?  I don't see any ground troops to close support, but...

For ground attack I choose the P-38.    

Guns are weak against Panzer, but...

Carries its weight the best.  Bombs? Rockets?  Load em all up and the P-38 still flies like a dream.

With a P-38 you can fight your way in, drop your ordinance and fight your way out.

LOL the point of CAS isn't to dogfight.

Oh, totally agree, funked.

The problem is all the pesky enemy fighters that seem determined to prevent me from plucking their armoured harvest. I find that the 1C is given a wide berth (in the front quarter), make the passes necessary to kill, and stand a chance of fighting it out with the defenders. And the additional ammo doesn't hurt either.

Of course I would be the first to tell you that if ever HTC builds a score column for JABO or CAS I will securely occupy dead last.

I kinda like how they underestimate the Tiffie and don't give me a wide berth.  Then they either die or leave my ground buddies alone because I lead them on a futile chase.
