AA tracer: a question.
« on: September 30, 2001, 03:00:00 PM »
This has been nagging me for a while:

Why is it that player controlled guns leave smoke trails but AI guns don't?

It's not a big thing but I was wondering about it for a while. Is it a gamepley concession to keep the clutter down?

Anybody?

they used to leave trails.

i personally think all ground guns should not have smoke trails on tracers including taks and vehicles

The AA guns don't leave smoke trails because they don't use the same ballistic model.  They used to leave smoke, but you could obviously see the bullets leaving a straight trail with no gravity affects.

Players have smoke though, as we deal with gravity.  I wouldn't want to see the smoke leave either.  We need the smoke for correcting your aim with ship cannons and vehicle howitzers.
