G 10 is my nemesis

Beside the Niki, the G 10 is what kills me the most in this game. I believe it is due to it's superior speed and climb, as surely my SKILLZ are not to blame here:D  Anyone have any tips/tactics on engaging and killing these guys?

The Niki or beiung killed by a Niki can be avoided. Just outrun it because they are not so fast. Most planes in AH are capable of outrunning them. As for the 109G10, well it depends on the pilot. Its not an easy plane to fly on the normal convention of stick pulling. You have to E fight in it or B&Z which is difficult in the  current arena. So in encountering a G10, it more depends on who is piloting it. However the case is that most guys who fly the G10 as their part of their normal selection of birds are quite deadly with it since its performance is good. I have no idea what the average ratio is between good and bad G10 pilots but most I've encountered were good, some exceptional. Again all Nikis are dangerous but death can be avoided unless your greedy for a kill.

check out:
Soda's aircraft descriptions

The G10 really is a fine edged weapon and takes a lot of skill to get the most out of.  There are a number of areas where it is weak (turn is the most obvious).

The N1K is a terror, especially if it starts with a lot of speed/alt so it can force you into a turn-fight.  The key is not to ever turn fight it unless you have something that is clearly a better turner (and there are few).

Flew the G10 for the first time a couple of weeks ago, i was truly suprised by the way it flew.

Not 1 time did the plane go under 200 mph on the deck while i was fighting, it kept its E very nicely, a nice little dive would pop my speed up quick.

The guns arent bad at all either, load 30 mm's and 1 snapshot is all it takes sometimes, with the gondies.

One of the the better LW planes i have ever flown.

I like the G10 too. But the 30mm has its flaws, you just run out of ammo too fast. If you have the 20mm, you still need to be careful on how and when you shoot. The 13mm are just nowhere near as deadly as the US .50s Gotta get very close so that they hurt...

But I dont think you can compare it to the NIKI, the NIKI is just much better. It may be not THAT fast or good-climbing, but its very good at everything. Whereas the G10 can be beaten, because there are as well weak points..

I tend to compress and faceplant when I BnZ in a G10.  That plane is just too fast for me.  I have much better success with the FW190A8 - more guns, better control, better visibility, less likely to auger.  If I want a 109, I take the G2 or G6.

The answer to this depends largely upon what you are flying.  G10's excel in the vertical and are not so good in the horzontal or at lower speeds.

Ostwinds are what get me, one of these days I am going to learn to just leave gv's alone.  Stuff on ground accounts for 45 of my deaths this tour so far.

Guys having trouble with 30mm - remember those bullets drop a lot more than any others.   Pull up a target (the .target command) at say 1000 and see where the 30mm hit.   It only takes 1 or 2 30mm rounds to down a plane.  Your other rounds, especially MG, will send up sparks liek crazy but at longer ranges your cannon rounds are actually going under your target.  (This accounts for a lot of people who think they have "rubber bullets")    I am not much good with 30mm either, Wotan is a pro at it though.  I wish there was a way to set vertical convergence the same as we set horizontal convergence.

The g-10 does compress very easy, use this to your advantage, if an nme is diving on you try to increase his dive angle by turning under him or just diveing away, he may gain to much speed and compress and find it hard to pull up so he will (if he doesn't auger) . this will give you time extend and gain some alt, or to do a lag barrel roll and get a snapsot at him.

personally I prefer the 109f-4 as people use tactics for the g-10 against it except its a better turnfighter and doesn't compess as bad (doesn't go that quick) and they end up dead.

and if you want to kill a niki fly a hurri IIc.

Blank is bang on it.  Fuzz you didn't say what planes you fly but I'm guessing  it's a speed based plane since turnfiters have little problem dealing w/ G10.  In a pony, I make the G10 chase me to speed over 400 where it  becomes badly compressed.  Then, if you want to escape, pull  a hard 45%+ turn and extend..even the hottest G10 stick will be unable to track you.  Often you can dodge the compressed G10 then reverse back and become the agressor.  :)

turbot I did some testing once with convergence, so how I understand it is this:

when you increas range of convergence the guns are also aimed up in the vertical to allow for the round drop off, so that they still meet in the center of you sight.

now for the good bit:

this also works for the center hub guns on the 109's if you increas the range for the 30mm to its maximum and you set the other guns to 300 everything meets nicley in the center of the site at 300 even the 30mm

try it if you dont believe me :)

you can actually get the 30mm to hit higher as well.

Beware the G-10, I am one of those feared G-10 drivers and I will tell you this much if you fly against me you had better hold your E and never ever try to climb fight me. Never dive out and try to out run me, I may surprise you with unbelivable speed. And don't try your luck with the HeadOn. The G-10 packs a nose full of whollop. Depending on what your flying(never HO against Bf110'S or Hurri's) I will aim for the head on and I win 90% of all the HO's I have been in. Tight turns and shallow dive outs will get you down and away fast. If your a hard target I will most likely leave you and find another victim. If you and me are alone in a sector you had better hold your E and don't be too aggressive. I will extend on you, out climb you and then B&Z you. The best thing to do against a Bf109G-10 ace is to be a frustrating shot. Most G-10's hate to turn fight so the easy part is to turn out at the last second when he Booms. Extend out and wait for the G-10 to boom again and turn out at the last second. Two or three well executed turnouts will usually make the G-10 go else where. I would avise you keep one eye on him as you return to some friendlies. You can bet that he still wants to bag you and I will certainly wait patiently for your attention to be elsewhere.

Remember I am one of the sharks of the skies looking for easy prey. If you get slow and low expect the G-10 to eat you alive. :D

G-10 was a terror in pre 1.03 FM. All planes bled E at greater rate than now and G-10's ability to recover E was very pronounced.

A P-51 could make a bounce, pull too hard and next thing you had G-10 climb to it and kill it.

With newer FM G-10 lost this dvantage, as well as becoming less stable in low speed flight. Its high speed characteristics were always poor.

This, and increased arena number have made G-10 flying much more difficult. The plane is best utilized when fights slows down, and G-10 can use its power to increase its E while opponent can't. Slowing down, however, is very dangerous in a crowded arena and this is what AH is today.

Even if you stay fast and manage to deliver hits at 400+ mph, they will not be enough and you will have to make another pass. 190 works much better in this aspect.

G-10 is still a potent plane, probably best used in attacks from below and unseen. E tactics stillwork, especially in limited numbers environment.

Planes like Spit XIV and Lame-7 outperform G-10 in certain aspects which used to be its advantages.

IMO, Dora and Ta-152 are much better arena planes than G-10.

Still, G-10 is a great dueling plane.

I do not too bad against the G-10 (at least to my standards, I am only a beginner) because they tend to ignore my little FM2. If this flying barrel is up to speed I most definitely don't fear Nikis, because mostly they're flown by average pilots like me and instead of going vertical they turn with me (which is not a wise move).

G-10's I mostly ignore. With the turn rate of the FM2 they're avoidable and fighting back is almost useless. Even If you get a merge right it is very hard to hit them, they're too fast. And in the vertical you are helpless.

Flying the G-10 I don't do very often, it is too fast and compresses so easily. Sometimes I take it up with gondolas to intercept a bomber. Dueling in it is very hard for me, because you can't turn. The excess power keeps you alive most of the time though, problem is, I can't hit anything either.
