So I basic MS Sidewinder JS with the twisty rudder controls. Now the joysitcj itself is fine, but in heavy ACM it's all too easy to twist the stick a bit and COMPLETELY throw off any gun tracking I was making. Can anyone recommend to me some basic rudder pedals. Something that isn't going to break my back because I ain't rich.

I have used both of these. I use Ch Pros now in the analog version and I like them a little better they both perform equally well. The CH Pros have a smaller profile and seem just a little smoother to me.

You may also want to see if you can pick up a 1st generation MOMO FF Steering wheel and pedals. They have a new version comming out and the old ones may be dirt cheap (which for MOMO means under $100). I got my for $89 a few months back from a return (some bozo didnt have USB and bought them....THANK YOU THANK YOU!).

It worked out great for me, because I love the WHeel for driving games, and the pedals are good for rudder input too. Just a thought!

I have a gameport Thrustmaster Fox2Pro and a USB wheel and pedals... how do I go about getting Win98SE and AH to recognize both controllers at the same time? If it's possible to use my race pedals and my joystick, I'd love to try it.

Paulie, if you get both controllers hooked up, both should work. You might have problems with them in some games, but AH seems well suited to dealing with multiple joysticks.

Does anyone know if or where you can get rudder pedals for ~$50 or so?

I've got a set of TM Elite rudder pedals (non-USB) that have been refurbished and work well. I've also got a set of CH Pedals (non-USB), although the pots are getting a bit old and sloppy. They work fine with a large enough deadband, or you could just clean or replace the pots. CH Products sells replacements at its web site. Personally, I like the feel of the CH Pedals better. Like their joysticks, CH's Pedals offer much less resistance than their TM counterparts. Also, the TM rudders pivot about a central axis (like Simpeds). The CH set does not pivot and, instead, uses two pedals (they actuate like the toebrakes on the CH Pro Pedals), which can be confIgured either as a rudder input (i.e., the signals from the two pedal pots are added to form a single output) or racing inputs (i.e., the two pedals act as brake and accelerator inputs). If you want either set, you can have them for the price of shipping. If you're interested, send me an e-mail.

Well, I've succeeded in getting AH to recognize both controllers, but there's still a problem. It recognizes the right pedal, but not the left. They're configured as separate axis pedals, but I also tried configuring them as a combined axis pedals. When I do that, the game sees them as the fore/aft axis, which of course is the pitch axis for my stick. I'm terribly confused by this... if I can use my race pedals, I'd really much rather do that than buy a dedicated set of flight pedals. If anybody has ideas, I'd be forever grateful.

Got a TM HOTAS with Elite Pedals last year.
Whole set < 45.00> Re-Furb-Keep yours eyes open theres always good deals to be found.

Hi Paulieb,
I use a Saitek Cyborg 3D for Pitch, Roll & Throttle and the pedals from my Logitech Formula Force Wheel for Yaw.

Here's a rough guide to how I set mine up, Give it a try.

Calibrate stick & Wheel in Windows first.

Start AH
Click Setup
Click Joystick
Click Select Joystick (You should see something similar to A)

Select Roll in "AH Control"
Click on your Joystick
Select the Axis
Click "Set Input" (As in B)

Select Pitch
Repeat

Select Throttle 1
Repeat

Select Rudder
Click on your Wheel
Click on Combined Pedals
Click "Set Input" (As in C)

That should do it....
Click on "Apply"
Click on "OK"

You should now be able to calibrate in AH as normal and your pedals will operate the Rudder.

You might need to check "Invert Axis" (Left pedal should turn you left).
