First Lady Trivia
« on: November 12, 2002, 01:11:35 PM »
This first Lady-to-be privately asked for briefings on the confirmation process and procedures on Capitol Hill and in the executive branch for getting key personnel placed in federal offices. She had played a low-key public role in her husband's race for the White House but her low-key approach  ended when her husband won the election for President of the United States.

Who was she?

Could be quite a few... but gonna say that Hillary fits the bill better than most.  I do know she was the first "First Lady" with her own complete staff.

Are you sure she didn't?  Doesn't seem there'd be too much outrage since the precident had already been set.

I wonder who paid for that staff?

Oh... and I don't really recall seeing her as a runningmate on the ballot.

Other than that... no real reason.

We did, just like this staff (Betty Ford):

Blinded by hatred of an intelligent woman again?

FIRST LADY'S STAFF

The varied ceremonial, familial, and political roles of the First Lady are recorded in the files of her staff: Sheila Weidenfeld (press secretary), Maria Downs (social secretary), Frances Pullen (speechwriter), Elizabeth O'Neill (correspondence), Susan Porter (appointments), and Russell Armentrout (state dinners, entertainment).
