Help! New System - 2 issues
« on: November 27, 2002, 12:25:27 PM »
Hi all-

I just got my new system up and running today.

Antec 835 workstation twr (350w PS)
K7S5A
Athlon XP 2000+
Volcano 7+
256 Crucial DDR
60 Gb WD 7200rpm
GF4 Ti4200
Win XP

My first box...and the darn thing fired up the first time I hit the switch.  I was amazed to say the least.  Hardest part was the Volcano/Arctic Silver/Shim/CPU setup, had to have a beer for that one...

I am having two problems however-

1) XP prompted me for a partition for the OS install, I indicated 10GB since I thought would be cool to have 2 partitions - 10 and 50Gig.  Well, it shows my HD size as 10GB now...how do I get the rest of my capacity back?

2) AH will not run - I receive the error "Initialization Failed with -5, mainSN FAILED -2".  I have installed Direct X 8.1...

Otherwise things look great....

Mucho Thanks -

Fixed!

AH problem was related to a bad sound driver, I was able to find the correct K7S5A AC97 driver (avance logic313_wdm) at windowsxp-drivers.com.   The one ECS includes with the MB does not work with Windows XP...

Hard drive partition goof fixed by re-installing XP.

All is well...for now
