Question re. GVs in terrains
« on: December 30, 2002, 01:22:04 PM »
Pardon my ignorance (I havent had chance to start messing with the TE myself yet, but a fellow squad-member in Another Game has asked...) - is it possible to create terrains for training use that have GVs in for target practice? And if so, is there any way to make the target GVs move (even along a predefined course would be fine)

1) yes, but they won't move like the P51's in offline mode they fixed.

2) yes, what you could do.... instead of using the Train, Truck Convoy or Barges shapes, use the shape of one of the ground vehicles.
Note!  Trains, Convoys, Barges travel their distance in min/max of 10 minutes.
So if you make the Road...
100 miles long, they will be traveling 600 MPH.
10 miles long, they will be traveling 60 MPH.
etc....

Nuttz used a string of ( I believe ) Panzer tanks in one of his maps instead of the truck convoy.

which map?

i wish it was easier to make convoys, last time i tried to make a convoy was to make goons fly along rivers

which IMO would look cool and realalisic as they used rivers and roads for navigation, and also you could have the tracks longer if you managed to work out how to make them fly about 200 mph

ehem........sort of drifted off a little there, lol

Did this work or not? And how do you set the altitude?

Anyway, I take it that there's nothing special about the convention on arena maps of using roads and trucks for field resupply and trains for factory resupply?  That you can use any type of "road" and any type of vehicle to carry supplies to anything, the only important thing being what type of supplies the "road" has and its destination?

OK, now I'm a bit confused.  I thought 1.11 changed the train time as well as the factory downtime.  Do trains still take 10 minutes to travel but only spawn every 30 minutes, or is it 30 minutes for both?

Trains, convoys, and barges

Trains, convoys, and barges are built into the terrain.  Each train, convoy, or barge has a source point and a destination point, and each can be damaged or destroyed while traveling from point to point.  When a train, convoy, or barge is destroyed, they will automatically respawn every ten minutes.

Once a train, convoy, or barge has successfully reached it's destination, a new supply convoy spawns.

It takes 10 minutes from the time the Train first spawns to the time it reaches its Destination.

The 30 minutes is how much it reduces the rebuild time.

Resupplies

Damaged field and city objects can be rebuilt with the successful delivery of supplies.  Conceptually, the objects are being resupplied but visually they are being rebuilt.  This is done by reducing the downtime by 30 minutes depending on how much of the supplies reach the destination.  If only half of the supplies reach the destination, the downtime is decreased by 15 minutes.
