Spain, Italy, Denmark...

And a fourth European country are working on a joint statement that would be in support of military action in Iraq as a last resort.

Oddly enough, France, germany and Belgium have refused to sign it so far. This suggests that those countries don't see it as a *last resort* possibility.

Which pretty much pulls the teeth out of resolution 1441.

European governments are divided. As are the populations; some (a minority) support the US position; many support a war if there is a UN resolution and some do not support a war at all.

We've heard much US statements dissing the French for protecting their economic resources in the area. The US has always done the same, so that is hypocritical to me.

And I'd also like to add that disagreement with the US doesn't mean a hatred for the US. I just wonder whether America really wants the European countries to be puppet regimes?

Anyway, there is some support for the US in Europe. So before Grünherz or any other anti-Euro starts generalizing, please remember that *some countries* have *consistently* supported the US.

Yes, the neo conservatives exactly want the USA to be the one and only country that has the military power to kill other nations - welcome future.

Hm, the silent treatment.

No wonder Marilyn Manson looks the way he does. Saw a documentary on American culture and apparently that's how dissenting voices are dealt with - so they have to force shock people to be seen/heard.

Santa,

Chirac has already gone on record as stating he would veto any UN hostile action towards Iraq. With that statement he cannot back down without admitting he was wrong. This means simply that as long as france has a veto power in the security council he can suspend ANY UN action. This makes the UN a non viable alternative. It also indicates that 1441 is not sufficient as far as france is concerned for any military action. Other nations obviously think 1441 IS adequate but with france able to veto in the security council there will be no UN action.

Nato will have to be the main force coalition as NATO has done very well without active participation from france.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

If you mentioned free porn or booze we'd of responded quicker.

Also..just TRY to tell me the WWF is fake!
Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

I saw some pr0n where a girl in a thong were drinking booze.

Now answer the question, whatever it was :D

Oh yes, US want puppet regimes in Europe or strong, self sufficient democracies with the capability to disagree with the US?

Nice black and white question fer ya; very loaded. I am sure I'd make a good politicians. I mean, where are my morals?

Before I saw Bowling for Columbine I thought Marilyn Manson was just a simpleton who was ripping off glam rock from the 70's, but after I saw the doco I thought Marilyn Manson was a well spoken, intelligent person who was ripping off glam rock from the 70's

Your question is deliberately loaded because it presupposes that either the US doesn't want democracy in Europe, or that American policy toward Iraq must bow to the views of European democracies.  Neither is true, so move on.

I said it was loaded, didn't I? :)

Seriously though,it sounds very much as the US expects its issues to pass through Europe without opposition. When there is opposition, newspapers pull a Toad and publishes pictures of graveyards.

I can understand yer frustration. Still, the wwii card is overused when it applies to every discussion.

Better do something about South Korea. The youngstes there fear Bush more than Kim Jong Il or whatever his name is. See how they like it under communism.

Now THAT attitude would piss me off.
