Railway guns

Although this Famous gun is probably a bit rediculous for the purposes of AH, I was thinking that perhaps a smaller version of a rail-mounted weapon (18-20 inches) on a circular track might be a great new element in land warfare. Cyclic rates for 8 ton shells are somewhere around 2-3 rounds per hour, meaning you could feasibly operate a smuch maller gun in gaming conditions. Just imagine dropping ten-thousand pound shells on distant airfields and VHs. CHeck out the Dora, but consider smaller, more manageable peices:

Why not go for the "Karl" heavy 60cm self-propelled mortar, firing a 1700 kg shell more than 7 kilometers !

(Btw, that's a Panzer IV ammo hopper to the left ... the size of that thing!!!)

What's the rate of fire on that 60cm mortar? 1 hit kill on a vh or fh sounds really nice though, not to mention 5-6 hit kills on HQ.

If that shell would hit a plane, I bet the pilot would be somewhat peed...

Just imagine actually manning MG's or acks on a train to defend the thing from aircraft...

It'd be neat to have once in a while, but I don't think though that the rail guns should be an everyday thing in the MA.
