Historical setup:
On October 25th Rear-Admiral Sprague commanding a force within Kinkaid's Seventh Fleet was surprised near Leyte Gulf by Admiral Kurita's force of 4 battle ships, 6 heavy cruisers, and 10 destroyers. Compared to Sprague's small force of 6 escort carriers and 7 destroyers Kurita victory seemed at hand. What aircraft Sprague had on the escort carriers were armed for land operations and essentially useless against ships. In a two hour running fight Sprague survived, kept the Japanese at their distance, and lost only 3 destroyers and the escort carrier Gambier Bay. Considering the odds it was excellent display of tactical brilliance. With victory in hand Kurita retired due to misinformation.
Synopsis:
This will be our first multilife (4) SnapShot so expect a longer, action packed event. It involves ALL aspects of naval combat between the IJN and USN. It should be one heck of a fight.
