RADEON 9700 PRO requires connection to your PC's internal power supply for operation. Consult your system builder or OEM to ensure your system has an adequate power supply. Otherwise ATI recommends a 300 watt power supply or greater to ensure normal system operation where a number of other internal devices are installed.

What exactly dose it mean? do i need to plug some cord into it or is that just what kind of power i need?????

Chubbs, the 9700Pro has a power connector on the board itself, as the AGP bus cannot supply enough power for the card.

You simply take a spare plug from your power supply and connect it to the board, like you would a HD, or any other add-on device that requires power.

The power supply ATI recommends is a bit low if you are running a fast system, in my opinion. I would not use anything less than a 400W supply when using the 9700Pro.
If you have to upgrade your power supply, I would recommend the Antec 430W TruPower supply. It's rail balance is well suited for this application.
My power recommendation is based on a CPU running at 1.8Ghz or higher with a 133Mhz FSB.

Roger that. Especially on a power hungry Athlon system, the Radeon 9700 can suck some juice, and if you have a few HDs, a few extra case fans ect...you really need a QUALITY power supply to avoid undervoltage durring peak draw (pronounced random lock ups/reboots/general instability).

Not for the card itself Chubbs. You use the power supply that is in your computer, you just use a plug coming from it to attach to the 9700Pro.

As far as needing another supply, we would need to see your complete system specs to help make that determination.

ok now i see 1 connection but its hooked to my sound card. There are other slots on the sound card would those be to also transfer power to another with a cord?

Chubbs,...forget about what is plugged into your computer.

If you look at the power supply in the computer, you will see a huge bundle of wires coming out from it. There are plugs going from it to your motherboard, HD's, CD-ROMS, floppy...
If you look at where your hard drive is mounted, you will see a bundle of 4 wires going to it from the power supply. These are grouped together in a single plug, which is plugged into your HD.

The 9700Pro gets a power plug from the power supply just like the hard drive and/or floppy drive does (there is an adapter in the 9700Pro box that allows either the small plug or large plug to attach to it).
The 9700Pro installs just like any other AGP video card. It just has the additional power plug on the video card, so it can get enough power to run.
