I thought it was interesting reaction. And I said so.

Yes, a couple of years ago furious, why?

First off - discount the word "Turbin" that I used... slip of the mind - whatever you call the "rag" part of "raghead."  They were most definately Muslims - that was the whole draw to the interview, and I can remember the interviewer making a big deal out of the head wear and "cultural" dress.

KBMan - This was only a week or so after 9/11 - WYSP sponsored the drive - I can remember listening to the station coming home from work when the guy was hit.

What he was saying, exactly I dont remember, but I wasnt thrown by it.  There were no "why this happened" or "youre at fault" words - just compassion and him trying to get the point across that "we're Americans too" IIRC.

It was just an example of too much anger and not enough restraint.  Im not sure what happened to either party - but the post was just an attempt to show that all different camps on an issue have their stupid members.

Freedom of speach vs vandalism.  I don't think you know what the opposite end of the spectrum really is.

I did not say that they were comparable acts - I don't know how you got that idea.  Do you think that the actions of those mentioned in the article were moronic or not?

"At opposite ends"

You didn't say it outright, you just directly implied it.  I can't believe you are trying to feign otherwise.

I will not say that someone booing at a speech is even remotely comparable to what was seen in the streets of S.F.  Once again... freedom of speech vs vandalism and violence.

Agreed Mazz,
I wasn't faulting you, just making that distinction. I do recall at that time, reading about Sikhs being attacked and or harrassed and many of them closing their businesses during the period right after 9/11 to avoid the wrath and retribution of the ignorant mob mentality that was prevalent at that time. None of it was surprising, just disgusting and shameful. Sorry If it seemed I was directing my comments at you.

I don't get it.  Am I being too lenient to pro-war idiots by not mentioning ones who resort to assault to get their point across, or too critical by even bothering to point out their crass and ignorant behavior?

Niether.  Anyone who resorts to violence against a fellow man because of a personal belief is walking down the wrong path - regardless of what that belief is.

Angry Americans punching Arabs and Anti-War protestors rioting are the simple examples.

Nazi's are the other end of the spectrum.

Nah.. its just that if you want to point out that people can be crass... well... what's the point?

You mention anti-war activists that have been somewhat overboard as of late spawning several threads on the subject.  Then you present someone that was booed at a speech as a comparison.

Sorry, but even as you spelled it out it could have happened several ways.  Really... as you said it... there's little difference in what Mayor Julliani did to the Saudi Prince.   He also said "This is reprehensible, but America needs to reconsider policies that have caused this to happen."

I do agree that there are idiots on both sides of the spectrum.  I just disagree that what you have presented is a prime example of it.
