Shootout Rules

1-   The Shootout is only available to players who qualified for the event in the monthly qualifying rounds and participation cannot be transferred.
2-   The Shootout will take place on Saturday, May 3 2003 at 2200 GMT, 1600 CDT.  Qualified players who are not present at the contest for any reason, will forfeit and not be replaced.
3-   The Shootout will take place in a special arena that will only be available to qualified participants.
4-   The Shootout will consist of 3 separate sorties.  Each sortie will consist of a 5-minute launch period during which players may take-off and climb for position, and a 20-minute fight period.
5-   Players can only launch a sortie during the 5-minute launch period.  Take-offs will be disabled after the launch period has expired.  Any player that does not launch during the launch period for any reason will have to sit out that particular sortie.
6-   All players will fly from the same country.  Killshooter will be enabled during the launch period.  At the end of the 5-minute launch period, Killshooter will be disabled and the event moderator will announce “GUNS LIVE” to begin the fight period.
7-   The fight period will last for 20 minutes.  Only kills recorded during the fight period will count towards a player’s score.  The event moderator will announce “FIGHT OVER” at the end of the 20-minute period.  Any kills recorded after that announcement will not count towards a player’s score.
8-   After the fight period is ended, the event moderator will instruct all surviving players to immediately end their flights and the process will be repeated until all 3 sorties have been flown.
9-   The player with the most cumulative kills over the 3 sorties wins the Shootout and the grand prize.  In the event of a tie between 2 or more players, the following tiebreakers will be used in the listed order to determine the winner.

a.   Player with the most assists.
b.   Player with the fewest deaths.
c.   Player with the most kills of the other player(s) in the tiebreaker.
d.   Player with the greatest number of different pilots shot down.

If 2 or more players are still tied after the series of tiebreakers, the grand prize will be split between those players.
10-   A disconnection during the fight period will be counted as a death.
11-   A ditch during the fight period will be counted as a death.
12-   Players may only select fighters to fly.  Only fighters with a Main Arena perk point cost of 0 will be available for use in the Shootout.
13-   There are no restrictions on fuel or ordnance loadouts.
14-   Arena settings will be identical to the Main Arena with the exception of Killshooter.
15-   Failure to comply with the instructions of the event moderator can result in disqualification from the Shootout.
16-   The event moderator will be the final arbiter of any disputes.
